THE NEED TO FOLLOW GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS

Following instructions in life is very important, especially God’s instructions.

The simple life’s instruction can easily make or destroy your life, destination or even eternity. Failure to follow instructions can get you arrested, put in prison or regarded as someone you are not, simply because you failed to follow instructions as given, told and instructed. Selah.

The Bible says in Numbers: 20:7: 11: Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” So Moses took the rod from before the LORD as He commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

What was God’s instructions to Moses?

#The Lord God instructed Moses saying: “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”

#Underline in your Bible: Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water.

Did Moses follow God’s instructions? NO!

#The Bible says: Then Moses lifted his hand and Struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

#Moses disobeyed God’s instructions, but water came out of the rock for God’s people to drink; but Moses and Aaron did not enter the Promised Land because of disobedience.

Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” (See: Numbers: 20:12)

ARE YOU FOLLOWING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS?

Saul was rejected as King, for failure to follow God’s instructions.

The Bible says in 1 Samuel: 15:1:3: Samuel also said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

What was King’s Saul instructions?

Now Go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

Did King Saul follow God’s instructions? NO!

The Bible says: He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed. Now the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying, “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the LORD all night. 1 Samuel: 15:8:11.

#As a result of disobedience to God’s instructions Saul was rejected as King.

So Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel: 15:22:23.

#Underline in your Bible: Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.”

#But Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel.” And as Samuel turned around to go away, Saul seized the edge of his robe, and it tore. So Samuel said to him, “The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you. 1 Samuel: 15:26:28.

Whatever else you may do as Brothers, Sisters, men and women of God, make sure you always follow and listen to God’s instructions.

Let us look at those who obeyed God’s instructions.

Joshua followed God’s instructions and was victorious.

The Bible says in Joshua: 6:2:5: And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”

#Underline in your Bible: This you shall do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.

Joshua followed God’s instructions and was victorious.

The Bible says in Joshua: 6:14:16: And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days. But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!

#So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Joshua: 6:20.

Imagine what would have happened to them if Joshua had disobeyed God’s instructions?

#Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

#Following God’s instructions in your life will save not only yourself, or your family members, but also your friends and colleagues.

#Naaman was told by the Prophet Elisha to wash seven times in the Jordan, he did and his flesh was restored.
(Read: 2Kings:5:10:15)

The Lord God commanded Elijah saying: (See: 1Kings:17:2:6): “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

#Elijah the prophet followed God's instructions and was fed by the ravens, and drank from the brook.

Mary said to Jesus Christ, they have no wine. (John: 2:3)

The Bible says in John: 2:5: His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

#Underline in your Bible: Whatever He says to you, do it.”

#Jesus Christ said to them: “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!” John: 2:7:10.

The Servants followed Jesus’ instructions.

FOLLOWING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS!

#The Bible says: Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them.

#Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, always follow God’s instructions in your life.

The Bible says in John: 21:4: 6: But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

What was Jesus’ instruction to the disciples?

#Cast the net on the Right side of the boat, and you will find some.”

#This is what happened after they have cast the net on the right side of the boat; Now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.
(John: 21:11)

Imagine just for a moment if the disciples had cast the net on left side of the boat, they would not have caught anything; they have followed Jesus’ instruction to cast the net on the Right side of the boat.
